With the stage feeling like home, Tonette’s performances are genuine, warm and welcoming, allowing her to easily connect with audiences. Her voice can go from sweet & sticky to down & dirty in a flash, taking the listener on an unpredictable ride. Her full, rich, tone, lends itself to many styles. When asked her favorite, you’ll hear an emphatic, “Motown straight up!”
Adding unique and distinguishing harmonies to South Jackson is her latest obsession. “SJ’s music and lyrics cut right to the core of me. I’m really diggin’ this, and I’m blessed to be a part of it!”
Over four decades of gigs include, lead vocals for original/cover bands, road work, studio work, vocal coach, worship leader, songwriter, and yes, even a singing telegram business! Her duo, Atta Boy Girl, continues to play coffee houses, bars and private gigs.
Tonette is clear on her idea of success saying,
“ We never arrive as musicians. It’s like life, the more love and passion we pour into it, the more beautiful the journey, and so, the more beautiful the song.
Music has spoken for me when I haven’t had the words. It’s lifted me up, resurrected my courage, gotten me through, and displayed fierce loyalty. The best part is, it continues to be a fascinating exploration.
